This guide explains how to connect MaintainX to Power BI. After you set up this integration, you can get advanced analytics, and create visualizations, custom reports, and dashboards from your MaintainX organization data.

Power BI is part of the Microsoft 365 Suite. To create and edit dashboards, visualizations, and reports, you have to install Power BI Desktop on your computer.
To publish a dashboard and make it available to stakeholders. You have to save it as a .pbix
file in Power BI Desktop. You can then publish and share it using Power BI Online.
Requirements​

A computer running the Microsoft Windows operating system with Microsoft Power BI Desktop installed.

Administrator access to your MaintainX organization.

A MaintainX API key for Power BI.
Contact your MaintainX representative to make sure you have the correct permissions to generate the key.
Generate a MaintainX API key for PowerBI​
To connect MaintainX to Power BI, you need to generate a PowerBI API key. The PowerBI API key scope gives you access to the MaintainX API endpoints you need to access your data and generate reports. You cannot modify any data. For more information, see the MaintainX API reference.

From the sidebar, select Settings, and under ORGANIZATION SETTINGS, select Integrations.

On the Integrations page, select Api Keys to display the API Keys options.

Select + New Key.
The Generate a new API key dialog opens.

Enter a label for your key. Choose a name that indicates what the key is for.

From the Key usage dropdown, select PowerBI.
noteIf you don't see the Key usage dropdown, contact MaintainX customer support.

Select Generate Key. A confirmation dialog with your key opens.

From the confirmation dialog, select Copy Key to copy the key to the clipboard.
warningMaintainX only displays the key the first time you generate it. If you don't copy the key, you cannot display it again later. However, you can always generate a new key.
