Publish Reports in Power BI Online
After you create a dashboard and a report in Power BI, you can publish it online to make it available to your stakeholders.
This article explains how to publish a report using Power BI online, and how to set up a scheduled refresh, so you always see the most up to date data.
Publish Your Power BI Report Online​

Open the
.pbix
file on Power BI Desktop. -
Select the Home tab in the ribbon, and then select Publish.
The Publish to Power BI dialog opens.

Select a workspace (e.g., My workspace), and then Select.
A confirmation window opens, with a link to your published report.

Select the link to open your report in Power BI online.

In Power BI online, refresh the window to make sure you have the latest data.
You can now view your data and use the filters/slicers to specify what you want to see.
Set Up a Scheduled Refresh of a Power BI Dataset​
For each dataset you want to set up a scheduled refresh for, you have to do the following:
- Deactivate the test connection: This prevents errors that can sometimes occur with scheduled refreshes.
- Set up the scheduled refresh: Toggle scheduled refreshes on, and set up the timing and frequency.
Deactivate the Test Connection​

In Power BI online, open the workspace that you published your report to.

Navigate to the dataset that you want to set up a scheduled refresh for, select the â‹® (more) icon and then select Settings.

In the dataset settings, navigate to the Data source credentials section, and then select Edit credentials.
A configuration dialog opens.

Select the Skip test connection option.
Set Up the Scheduled Refresh​

In Power BI online, open the workspace that you published your report to.

Navigate to the dataset that you want to set up a scheduled refresh for, and select the Schedule Refresh icon.
The dataset settings open.

Navigate to the Scheduled refresh section and toggle it on.

Set the scheduled refresh options: Refresh frequency, Time zone, and Time.
