The ERBESSD INSTRUMENTS integration is a fully managed integration between MaintainX and ERBESSD INSTRUMENTS. It gives your team a complete package for condition monitoring, with MaintainX and ERBESSD INSTRUMENTS providing and supporting both the hardware and the software. Your team doesn't need to source sensors, configure data pipelines, or maintain the integration yourselves. Instead, you get vibration data flowing into MaintainX as ready-to-act-on alerts.
The integration is built on the ERBESSD INSTRUMENTS PHANTOM® Vibration System, which includes the PHANTOM wireless sensors and PHANTOM Gateway described below.
If you already have your own sensors and operational technology (OT) data configured, MaintainX also offers self-managed connectors for Ignition®, Kepware®, and MQTT. For more information, see OT Data Connectors.
How It Works​
The integration provides full coverage of the end-to-end data pipeline. MaintainX and ERBESSD INSTRUMENTS handle every stage, from collecting vibration data from the sensors to streaming it into MaintainX. Once the data arrives, MaintainX meters and AI models turn it into condition-based alerts that vibration analysts review and act on.

- PHANTOM Sensor: ERBESSD INSTRUMENTS PHANTOM wireless sensors measure vibration and temperature on your assets and report over Bluetooth.
- PHANTOM Gateway: The PHANTOM Gateway collects sensor readings and pushes them to the MaintainX integration service over HTTPS.
- Integration Service: The integration service receives readings from the gateway over an authenticated endpoint.
- Meters: MaintainX meters are the registration point for sensor data: each reading is mapped to the correct asset and meter, then stored as a meter reading, based on the type of data reported (vibration or temperature).
- Analysis: MaintainX AI models analyze the meter data to detect and classify faults, and your organization's configured alert automations determine whether an alert should be raised.
- Alerts: When MaintainX registers an alert, a vibration analyst performs a review to ensure it's valid before creating a work order for your team to take action.
- Work Orders: A work order is created and shared with your team so you can take action before your equipment fails.
When a MaintainX vibration analyst reviews an alert and determines that your team should take action, they create a work order, turning the alert into work your team can act on. Each work order includes a procedure that asks for specific feedback, such as whether the initial inspection found the issue and what steps resolved it.
Completing that procedure feeds back into the integration. It gives MaintainX real-world confirmation of what the alert predicted and helps refine the underlying models against your organization's own equipment and vibration patterns over time. The more your team completes these procedures, the stronger that feedback loop becomes and the better the system gets at catching real issues.
Key Concepts​
Gateways and Sensors​
A PHANTOM Gateway and its PHANTOM sensors are separate devices that are deployed together as a system. Each sensor pairs with a nearby gateway over Bluetooth and reports its vibration and temperature readings to it, and the gateway forwards those readings to MaintainX over HTTPS. A single gateway can receive data from multiple paired sensors, and a site may deploy multiple gateways depending on coverage, asset layout, and signal strength.
Connector Instances​
A connector instance is the connection between one or more PHANTOM Gateways and a single MaintainX organization. You can create more than one instance and give each a descriptive name.
Every instance has its own authentication token, which the PHANTOM Gateway uses to authenticate with MaintainX and identify which instance its data belongs to. To learn how to create an instance and its token, see Set Up the ERBESSD INSTRUMENTS Integration.
Keep your token secure. Do not share it with unauthorized users. Anyone with the token could use it to submit data to your MaintainX organization.
Sensor Registration​
During the initial setup, MaintainX registers each PHANTOM sensor to its asset on-site using a mobile device. Once registration is complete, sensor readings arrive in MaintainX already linked to the correct asset, so no additional mapping step is needed.
Sensors and Meters​
Each PHANTOM sensor takes takes series of health readings for its asset and reports them to MaintainX, where they're recorded in the following meters:

In MaintainX, each meter name is prefixed with the sensor's serial number, e.g., <SENSOR-SERIAL-NUMBER>-Signal.
The three velocity RMS meters correspond to the sensor's axes, set during registration. Together, these meters let your team track an asset's condition over time and catch developing problems early. To confirm readings are arriving, see Configure the PHANTOM Gateway.
Requirements​
- Erbessd hardware: One or more Erbessd PHANTOM wireless vibration sensors and a PHANTOM Gateway.
- Gateway firmware: The PHANTOM Gateway must run firmware version
56or later. - Network: The gateway needs outbound HTTPS access to
