Delete a Category

This article explains how to delete a category and bulk delete categories.
When you delete a category, entities that use that category continue to have the label, but you can no longer add the category to any entities.
Delete a Category​
As a Full User, you can only delete categories you created.

- Mobile
- From the sidebar, select Categories.
- Select the category you want to delete.
- On the category details page, select (more options).
- Select Delete.
- When prompted, select Confirm to delete the category.
When you delete a category, the details page displays the date and time you deleted the category.
- From the bottom navigation bar, select More.
- Select the organization name.
- In the ORGANIZATION SETTINGS, select Categories.
- Locate the category you want to delete, and select it to view its details.
- Select (more options).
- Select Delete.
- When prompted, select Yes to delete the category.
When you delete a category, the details page displays the date and time you deleted the category.
Restore a Deleted Category​
When you delete a category, its details page stays open. While the page is open, you can restore the category. If you navigate away from the details page, you can no longer restore the category, but you can create a new category with the same name.
To restore a deleted category:
- Select the (more options) icon on web or (more options) icon in the mobile app.
- Select Restore.
- When prompted, select Yes to confirm and the category will be back in the categories list of the organization.
Bulk Delete Categories​
You can only bulk delete categories in the MaintainX web app.
- From the sidebar, select Categories.
- Hover over a category's icon until a checkbox appears.
- Select the checkbox of each category you want to delete.
- Select the (Trash can) icon to delete the categories.
- When prompted, select Yes to delete the categories.
