MaintainX is still sending authentication codes after SSO setup

Issue

Single sign-on (SSO) is set up for your organization, but some users are not being prompted to authenticate with SSO. Instead, they're prompted to log in with their original user name and password, and receive authentication codes by email or SMS.

Likely Cause

When users encounter this issue, the most likely cause is that their account was created before your organization set up SSO.

To resolve the issue:

  1. Follow the Troubleshooting Steps to confirm that SSO is configured for your organization.
  2. Migrate the user's account to SSO. For instructions, see Migrate Existing Users to SSO.

Troubleshooting Steps

Confirm that the user authentication method is SSO

Ask the user to do the following:

  1. From the sidebar, open the Settings menu and, from the My Account section, select Profile Preferences.
  2. Navigate to the Sessions section.
  3. Look for a section labeled SSO/SAML

If the SSO/SAML section isn't there, it means that:

  • The user's account is still set to use password/code authentication.

  • You might not be routing users from your domain to the SSO login.

    info

The SSO/SAML section only appears in user profiles when you have a routing rule set up for your domain.

Confirm that routing is set up for your domain

  1. Log into MaintainX as an Administrator.

  2. From the sidebar, open the Settings menu and select Customizations.

  3. On the Customizations tab, go to Single Sign-On (SSO) Self-Serve and select Set SSO Preferences.

The Single Sign-On Configuration dialog opens.

  4. Navigate to the SAML Configuration section, and check whether your domain appears in the Email Domains list.
