Use Workstation Mode

This article explains how a user can log into workstation mode, change their PIN, and log out of workstation mode.

In workstation mode, users log in to access accounts with a PIN and log off so other users can log in and use the same device. An Administrator activates and grants access to users to use the workstation.

Log Into Workstation Mode​

To log into workstation devices, follow the steps below for the web or mobile application:

To log into the workstation device:

  1. On the workstation device, scroll to find your username.

  2. Select your username.

  3. Enter PIN.

    note

    In the event your Administrator gave you permission to use the workstation but didn't generate an initial PIN for you, when you select your username to login, you will be prompted to create a PIN for yourself, which will be emailed or texted to you.

Change your PIN in Workstation Mode​

To change your PIN for workstation devices, follow the steps below for the web or mobile application:

  1. Log into the MaintainX web application with your current PIN.

  2. From the sidebar, select Settings and then select Profile Preferences

  3. Under Preferences, select the edit icon next to Workstation PIN.

  4. Enter a new 4-digit PIN for workstation mode.

  5. Select Confirm PIN.

    The PIN is now changed.

Log out of Workstation Mode​

To log out of workstation mode, follow the steps below for the web or mobile application:

  1. From the sidebar, select Settings.

  2. Select Sign Out.

    The next person is now able to log into MaintainX by selecting their user account and entering their PIN.

Workstation mode depends on local storage

Workstation mode can stop working:

  • On the MaintainX web application if your company has a policy to clear the browser cache on close or upon session logout. This occurs because the web application uses cookies (browser data) to store a token.

  • On the MaintainX mobile application when you clear the cache on the phone. This occurs because the mobile application uses the phone's local storage to store a token.

To restore workstation mode, an administrator can log in and turn it back on.
