Create a New Automation
You can create automated workflows in MaintainX based on your meter readings. You can use a manual or an automated meter to create a new workflow automation. Each automation has a trigger, a condition, and an action.
To set up an integration for an automated meter, reach out to your MaintainX representative.
To create a new automation:
-
From the sidebar, select Automations.
-
Select + New Automation.
-
Enter a name for the automation and a Description.
-
Do one of the following:
- Select a Meter from the drop-down. The related Asset appears in the drop-down above.
- Select an Asset from the drop-down. The related Meter appears in the drop-down below.
-
Choose one of the following meter reading trigger fields and set the value.
-
In the For drop-down, choose from one of the following options to specify when the trigger will occur:
-
One Reading: Triggers the action after one reading reaches the trigger threshold.
-
Multiple readings: Triggers the action after multiple readings reach the trigger threshold.
- Set the value for the Of the last and Readings fields. For example, for more than 5 of the last 10 readings.
-
A reading longer than: Triggers the action after readings reach the trigger threshold for a specified amount of time.
- Set the value for the first field and choose Minutes or Hours. For example, for longer than 2 hours.
-
-
Optionally, add a condition to limit when the workflow should be initiated.
-
Choose an action to specify what happens when the workflow is triggered.
-
Select Create.
The new automation is created.
Triggers
The following triggers are available for a workflow automation:
Field | Creates an Action When |
---|---|
Is above | The value entered is higher than the specified threshold value. For example, a temperature reaching above 10 degrees Celsius. |
Is below | The value entered is lower than the specified threshold value. For example, a temperature reaching below 10 degrees Celsius. |
Is equal to | The value entered is equal to the specified threshold value. For example, a temperature reaching exactly 10 degrees Celsius. |
Is not equal to | The value entered is not equal to the specified threshold value. For example, a temperature falling below a threshold of 10 degrees Celsius. |
Is above or equal | The value entered is higher than or equal to the specified threshold value. For example, a temperature reaching 10 degrees Celsius or above. |
Is below or equal | The value entered is lower than or equal to the specified threshold value. For example, a temperature reaching 10 degrees Celsius or below. |
Is between | The value entered is between the range value set. For example a temperature reaching between 10 to 20 degrees Celsius. |
Increases by (from last trigger) | Every time the meter reading increases by the specified threshold value. After you set Increases by (from last trigger), you can set the Initial Trigger Value at which an action (for example, a work order) needs to be triggered. For example, a truck has 0 miles on its odometer when you create a meter and you set up the Increases by (from last trigger) to occur every 5,000 miles. However, it is only necessary to service the truck after 15,000 miles onwards, so you can set the first Initial Trigger Value to start at 15,000 miles. |
Decreases by (from last trigger) | Every time the meter reading decreases by the specified threshold value. After you set Decreases by (from last trigger), you can set the Initial Trigger Value at which an action (for example, a work order) needs to be triggered. |
Increases by (from last reading) | The difference between the last reading and the one before increased by the specified threshold value. |
Decreases by (from last reading) | The difference between the last reading and the one before decreased by the specified threshold value. |
Conditions
The following conditions are available for a workflow automation:
Condition | Description |
---|---|
Between Certain Hours | For example, between 10:00 pm and 12:00 am. |
Actions
The following actions are available for a workflow automation:
Action | Description |
---|---|
Create a Work Order | For more information, see Create a Work Order. |
Change Asset Status | Choose your Asset from the drop-down, then choose a status from the Set status to drop-down and then choose a Downtime Type. Optionally, add a note. |
