Add a Procedure

This article explains how to add a procedure to a new work order and how to add a procedure to existing work orders and existing work order templates.

Add an Existing Procedure to a New Work Order​

You can add a procedure from your Procedure Library to a work order.

To add an existing procedure to a new work order:

  1. From the sidebar, select Work Orders.

  2. Select + New Work Order.

  3. Enter a title for the work order in the What needs to be done? field.

  4. In the work order details, select + Add Procedure.

  5. In the Add Procedure dialog to find a procedure, do any of the following:

    • Use the search bar to filter by specific keywords.
    • Select a procedure in the list.
  6. Select Add Procedure.

  7. (Optional) Select + Add Another Procedure to add another procedure to the work order.

    note

    When you add several procedures to a work order, they appear in a table of contents.

  8. Fill in the other fields that you need, as described in Work Order Fields.

  9. Select Create to save and add the new work order to the queue.

Other Ways to Add a Procedure to a New Work Order

You can also add an existing procedure to a new work order through the Library module:

  1. From the sidebar, select Library > Procedures.
  2. In the Procedure Library list, select the procedure you want to add to the new work order.
  3. In the procedure details, select Use in New Work Order.

Add a Procedure to Existing Work Orders​

This feature is only available on the MaintainX web application.

You can add a procedure with up to 350 fields from your Procedure Library to multiple work orders.

  1. From the sidebar, select Library > Procedures.

  2. Locate the procedure you want to add to the work orders.

  3. In the procedure details, select (more options) then Use in Existing Work Orders. The Add to Work Orders dialog appears.

  4. In the Add to Work Orders dialog, do any of the following:

    • Use the filter buttons or search bar to filter the list of work orders by specific keywords.
    • Select work orders in the list.
  5. Select Add Procedure. The procedure is added to each selected work order.

Add a Procedure to Existing Work Order Templates​

You can add a procedure with up to 350 fields from your Procedure Library to multiple work order templates.

  1. From the sidebar, select Library > Procedures.

  2. Locate the procedure you want to add to the work order templates.

  3. In the procedure details, select (more options) then Use in Existing Work Order Templates. The Add to Templates dialog appears.

  4. In the Add to Templates dialog, do any of the following:

    • Use the filter buttons or search bar to filter the list of work order templates by specific keywords.
    • Select work order templates in the list.
  5. Select Add Procedure. The procedure is added to each selected work order template.
