There are a few ways to add a permit to a work order. You can add a permit to an existing work order, receive a request for work that requires a permit to work or create a work order that requires a permit.
Add a Permit to an Existing Work Order
- From the sidebar, select Work Orders.
- Select the work order you would like to add a permit to work.
- Select (more options).
- Select Add permit to work.
- Enter a start date and an end date. This is the period during which a permit will be considered active, also called its active window. For more information on permit statuses, see Permit to Work Statuses.
- Select the approver(s) who will review the permit.
- Select Add Procedures to add a permit procedure. You can also choose to add a procedure at a later time before submitting the permit. For more information on permit procedures, see Add a Procedure Type.
The permit is now a draft permit. Once the safety requirements are added to the permit, select Submit. This means that the permit needs to be reviewed and approved.
Work Requests Requiring a Permit
You can have work that requires a permit originating from a work request. An Administrator or a user with the appropriate permissions must approve the request before it becomes a work order. For more information on work requests, see About Work Requests.
- From the sidebar, select Requests.
- Select the work request you want to approve.
- Select Approve request.
- Add or update any relevant information for the work order.
- Select the checkbox Require permit to work.
- Select Create.
The work order now requires a permit. From there, you can add a permit to an existing work order.
Create a Work Order Requiring a Permit
- From the sidebar, select Work Orders.
- Select + New Work Order.
- Enter a title for the work order in the What needs to be done? field.
- In the work order details, fill in the other fields that you need, as described in Work Order Form Fields.
- Select the checkbox Require a permit.
- Select Create.
