Create Work Orders From a Work Order Template

This article explains how to create work orders from a work order template.
A work order template is a reusable, preset format for a new work order. You can create templates with pre-populated values, hidden fields, read-only information, etc. For details, see Create a Work Order Template.
You can use a template to create a work order for an approved work request. Information added to the work request is copied to the work order form. For details, see Approve or Decline Work Requests.
Create a Work Order from a Work Order Template​

From the sidebar, select Work Orders.

Select + New Work Order. The New Work Order form appears.

Select Use a Template. The Use a Template dialog appears.

In the Use a Template dialog, do any of the following:
- Use the search to find a work order template by name.
- Use filters to narrow down the list of work order templates.

Select the work order template you want to use.

(Optional) Select Preview to see the content of the work order template.

Select Use Template. The new work order is created with the pre-populated name and required fields defined in the work order template.

Fill in the rest of the work order fields. For details, see Create a Work Order.

Select Create to save the new work order and add it to the queue. A message appears in the work order details to indicate from which template the work order was created.
You can also access this feature through the Library module by selecting Library > Work Orders, then any of the following:
- Select + Create a new Work Order.
- Select (more options) then Use in New Work Order.

From the MaintainX mobile application, do one of the following to access the create a work order from a template feature:
- From the Overview screen, select + Create then Work Order.
- From the bottom navigation bar, select Work Orders, + New Work Order, then Create Work Order.

From the template list, select the work order template you want to use. The new work order is created with the pre-populated name and required fields defined in the work order template.

Fill in the rest of the work order fields. For details, see Create a Work Order.

Select Create to save the new work order and add it to the queue. A message appears in the work order details to indicate from which template the work order was created.
Create Multiple Work Orders from a Work Order Template​
This feature is only available on the MaintainX web application.
To create multiple work orders from a work order template:

From the sidebar, select Library > Work Orders.

Locate the work order template you want to use.

Select (more options) then Create Work Orders. The Create New Work Orders dialog appears.

In the Create New Work Orders dialog, select several assets.

Select Create. A confirmation message appears to give the number of work orders created. Each added asset will automatically create a work order with the name of the work order template followed by the name of the asset.

Do any of the following:
- In the confirmation message, select Go to Work Orders. MaintainX redirects you to a filtered list of the work orders that use the template.
- From the sidebar, select Work Orders then use filters to only show the work orders using your work order template.

In the work order details, select Edit to fill in the rest of the work order fields. For details, see Create a Work Order.

When you're finished, select Update.
