Report Builder AI includes a built-in chat that lets you refine custom reports and explore other data in Report Builder. You can ask questions about the data displayed in any custom report added to a dashboard, however it was created: from scratch, with a template, or with Report Builder AI.

Ask Follow-Up Questions in Report Builder​

After Report Builder AI generates a report, you can continue the interaction by asking follow-up questions to refine the report or explore other data in Report Builder.

  1. In Report Builder, select Edit in Builder. The generated report opens with Report Builder AI Chat.
  2. Ask follow-up questions or request changes to refine the report.

Ask Follow-Up Questions in the Dashboards Module​

You can add a saved custom report to the AI Chat and ask follow-up questions about its data. The AI Chat uses the report as context to generate insights, but it can't edit the saved report.

You can only use custom reports as context for the AI Chat. MaintainX® pre-built reports aren't supported.

To ask follow-up questions in the Dashboards module:

  1. From the sidebar, select Reporting > Dashboards.
  2. Open a dashboard with a custom report.
  3. Locate the custom report card.
  4. On the custom report card, select (Ask AI about this chart). The Report Builder AI Chat opens with the report added as context.
  5. Ask follow-up questions about the custom report.
