This article explains how to record a meter reading and describes the statuses for a meter.

Record a Meter Reading

Meters are checked by a technician who records the reading in MaintainX. If your plan includes AI-powered anomaly detection, MaintainX can automatically determine whether a value entered into a meter reading is an anomaly that needs to be addressed. For more information see, AI-Powered Anomaly Detection.

To record a meter reading:

Follow the steps below for the web or mobile application:

  1. From the sidebar, select Meters.
  2. From the list, navigate to the meter that you would like to record a reading for.
  3. Select the meter to open it.
  4. Select + Record Reading. The Meter Reading dialog box opens.
  5. Enter a New Meter Value.
  6. Select Submit to record the meter reading.

The meter reading appears in the following places:

  • In the Meter Details section under Last Reading.
  • On the meter details page. In the Reading History section, select See All Readings to display the reading.

The meter details page also displays a graph under Readings where you can view your readings for the meter, depending on the time frame selected.

Meter Statuses

You can check the status of a meter to see whether or not its reading triggered the creation of a work order.

You can have the following statuses for a meter:

  • Pending status: The meter has no reading yet.
  • Stable status: This indicates that the last reading is within an acceptable range of the meter trigger (no work orders have been created).
  • Triggered status: The last meter reading triggered the creation of a work order.
