This article explains how to generate a procedure in a work order using MaintainX®'s AI procedure recommendations.

AI procedure recommendations reduce the time it takes to create a procedure from scratch by generating procedures based on a work order’s title and description.

Create a Procedure with AI

You can also use the AI Procedure Generator to generate a procedure. AI procedure recommendations generate a procedure within a work order from its title and description, while the Procedure Generator creates a procedure from uploaded manuals, images, and other reference files.

Generating Effective Procedures Using AI Procedure Recommendations​

To generate an accurate procedure, it's essential to provide clear work order details. Make sure to do the following in the work order:

  • Include the asset name in the work order title.
  • State the issue and the action needed (e.g., repair a leaking valve, inspect an overheating motor, replace a failed gauge, troubleshoot abnormal vibration, etc.).
  • Provide relevant asset specifics (e.g., model, location, hours running, warning indicators, etc.).
  • Add any observations that would help complete the task.

Work Order Details Example​

Title: Fix oil leak on John Deere 6155M tractor

Description: The John Deere 6155M tractor in Production Bay 3 has an active oil leak underneath the engine compartment. Oil is pooling on the floor after operation and the oil level has dropped since the last shift. The tractor has approximately 4,200 operating hours. No warning lights are currently active, but the leak appears to be coming from the lower gasket area. Please inspect and address the issue.

Generate a Procedure in a Work Order​

In the web application:

  1. From the sidebar, select Work Orders.
  2. Select New Work Order.
  3. Enter a title and a description for the work order. To help MaintainX create an efficient procedure, see Generating Effective Procedures Using AI Procedure Recommendations.
  4. In the work order details, fill in the other fields that you need, as described in Work Order Form Fields.
  1. To generate a new procedure for this work order, select Generate a Procedure with AI. A procedure is generated based on your work order details.
  2. Select the procedure to preview it before adding it to the work order. Once you've reviewed the procedure, select Add.

    You can also create a procedure by selecting Add a Procedure Manually.
