Pin a Custom Dashboard

  • Update a pinned custom dashboard.

About Pinned Custom Dashboards​

You can pin a custom dashboard as a new tab in the Reporting module. You can pin one custom dashboard at a time.

Your MaintainX representative can pin your custom dashboard as a tab at the organization level. For more information, see Create a Pinned Custom Dashboard Tab at the Organization Level.

Use a pinned custom dashboard to:

  • Make a frequently used dashboard easily accessible by pinning it as a tab.
  • Get insights faster by customizing the content and layout of your summary dashboard.

Pin a Custom Dashboard​

You can only pin one custom dashboard at a time. A pinned custom dashboard will be unpinned if you pin a new one. The tab for a custom dashboard that you pin is only visible to you.

After you pin a custom dashboard as a tab, you can see the filters for its cards, but you can't change them from the pinned tab. To change the filters, you have to edit the dashboard. For more information, see Update a Pinned Custom Dashboard.

Pin a Custom Dashboard from the Custom Dashboards Tab​

  1. From the sidebar, select Reporting and navigate to the Custom Dashboards tab.

  2. Navigate to the row for the dashboard that you would like to pin.

  3. If there are unpublished changes, optionally select Publish to update the custom dashboard before pinning it.

  4. In the Changes column, select (Pin Dashboard).

    Your custom dashboard is now pinned as a tab.

    In the custom dashboard list view, the pin icon in the Changes column turns from outline to solid color to tell you which custom dashboard is pinned.

Pin a Custom Dashboard from the Edit View​

  1. From the sidebar, select Reporting and navigate to the Custom Dashboards tab.

  2. From the list, select the custom dashboard to open it.

  3. If there are unpublished changes, optionally select Publish Changes to update the custom dashboard before pinning it.

  4. In the custom dashboard, select (Pin Dashboard).

    Your custom dashboard is now pinned as a tab.

    In the custom dashboard edit view, the pin icon turns from outline to solid color to tell you the custom dashboard is pinned.

Update a Pinned Custom Dashboard​

To update the tab for a pinned custom dashboard (e.g., to change the filters for one or more cards), you have to edit the dashboard itself. You can't make changes directly from the pinned tab.

To update a pinned custom dashboard:

  1. From the sidebar, select Reporting and navigate to the Custom Dashboards tab.
  2. From the list, select the custom dashboard to open it.
  3. Navigate to the card that you would like to update.
  4. Make any updates as needed.
  5. Select Publish Changes to update your custom dashboard.

Your pinned custom dashboard is now updated with the latest changes.

Unpin a Custom Dashboard​

  1. From the sidebar, select Reporting and navigate to the Custom Dashboards tab.

  2. Navigate to the row for the dashboard that you would like to unpin.

  3. In the Changes column, select (Unpin Dashboard).

    Your custom dashboard is now unpinned and removed as a tab.

    The custom dashboard's pin icon turns from solid color to an outline to tell you it is unpinned.

After you unpin your custom dashboard, you may need to refresh your page for the pinned custom dashboard tab to be removed.

Delete a Custom Dashboard that is Pinned​

When you delete a dashboard that is pinned, any users or organizations that have the dashboard pinned will lose access to it.

Create a Pinned Custom Dashboard tab at the Organization Level​

Your MaintainX representative can pin your custom dashboard as a tab at the organization level. This is visible to all users with access to the Reporting module.

  • If an organization has a dashboard pinned and the dashboard gets deleted, the organization loses access to the dashboard.
  • If you pin a dashboard and your organization has a pinned dashboard, the org-pinned tab will always appear before your user-pinned tab.
  • Pinning a dashboard across multiple organizations requires the dashboard to exist and be pinned in each organization.
