The Unplanned Downtime Reasons report shows the most common reported reasons for unplanned downtime, and allows you to see which machines recorded the most instances of unplanned downtime for each reason.
Use this report to perform root cause analysis on an asset, a group of assets, or all your assets, depending on the filters you select. It can help you understand why your equipment fails so you can design preventive maintenance strategies that address the most common issues before they cause failures.
Where to Find This Report​
The Unplanned Downtime Reasons report appears on the Asset Health tab, and is available on the Reporting Details tab.
Report Data​
The data in this report comes from custom asset status reasons that you assign when you set an asset's status to Offline (unplanned).
Chart Details​
- The red bars 1 that you see when you first load the report show the most common downtime reasons, ranked according to how often they occur (number of failures).
- The blue line (Pareto line) 2 shows a cumulative percentage of total machine failures, from the most common failure reason to the least.
- Hover over any bar to display the number of failures and cumulative total for that downtime reason 3.
Use the bars and the Pareto line together to help you decide which problems to prioritize. The bars tell you how often assets fail for specific reasons, and the Pareto line shows you what percentage of the total failures are attributed to, for example, the first two or three reasons.
Drill Down Into Unplanned Downtime Reasons​
Select any bar to switch to a chart that shows which assets failed for that reason, and how many times they failed.
Hover over the bar for any asset to display the number of times the asset failed for the reason you drilled down into 1.
This gives you more context about the impact of each unplanned downtime reason. For example, you might discover that, although a particular group of assets often fails for a specific reason, one asset in particular accounts for most of the failures.
